V-Ixion 2013: Yamaha’s New Stallion 55

The makers expect to launch the 2013 V-Ixion in the Indian market very soon.
Yamaha unveiled yet another beast from its stable, the 2013 V-Ixion, at the recently held Jakarta Motorcycle Show. Presently available only in Indonesia, its design is supposedly inspired by the Yamaha YZF-R1 with the tank resembling the latter’s design the most. Unlike its predecessor, the new version has a heavy and muscular design at the front and tapers towards the rear giving the rider a typical forward biased, sporty seating. The exhaust has been designed to mimic that of the Yamaha R1.
Another major change is the new strengthened box-type swing-arm, giving the rider good control and a smooth ride. The ECU has also undergone a few changes. Powered by a new IC and diagnostics port, the bike features a more efficient fuel pump and sports an overflow control aperture on the fuel lid. The wider rear tyre measuring 120/70 and rear disc brakes gives the bike a more stable and enhanced stopping power.

Though the new V-Ixion impresses with its all new design, once you open the ‘hood’, the composition is pretty much the same as its 2012 version. The bike is powered by the same 150cc, 4-stroke SOHC liquid-cooled engine generating 15bhp @ 8500rpm with a peak torque of 13.1Nm @ 7500rpm.
The 2013 Yamaha V-Ixion in essence is a heavier, face-lifted version of its predecessor, the 2012 V-Ixion. The makers expect to launch the 2013 V-Ixion in the Indian market very soon.
